A Hartford, Connecticut native now living in Southern California, RaShonne has always loved storytelling. Inspired by her own family’s curls—and by watching her daughter question the beauty of her natural hair—she created The Curl Girls to ensure that children could see themselves as the heroes of their own adventures.

Through colorful characters, empowering affirmations, and engaging stories, RaShonne’s books encourage children to embrace what makes them unique, dream boldly, and lead with confidence. Her mission is simple: to create stories where diverse children are represented, celebrated, and reminded that their differences are their superpowers.
